- KC7WW's DSP Sound Processor for PSA PC Soundcards
- -------------------------------------------------
-
- This package allows you to use your DSP sound card to perform digital
- signal processing system for noise reduction and autonotching.
- The LMS algorithm, as described by W9GR in QST, is programmed
- to run in real time on the sound card's DSP processor. Enjoy your
- HF or satellite communications and lower listening stress.
-
- Please note that only certain DSP sound cards will work with this
- software. These include the Cardinal DSP 16, Western Digital 16-DSP,
- Orchid Soundwave 32, Adaptec, Wearnes Beethoven, Echo Speech. etc.
-
- The files in the package:
- -------------------------
-
- LMS.EXE .... the main program to load DSP code into the DSP's memory
- LMS.DSP .... the DSP code for the LMS algorithm
- RTE9.LD .... a mini real time DSP operating system
- RUN.BAT .... an example of the command-line arguments
-
- Before you run the program - just take a moment to read what the different
- function keys mean:
-
- F1 - selects input source ... use the up/down arrows to toggle levels
- F2 - selects output level ... use the up/down arrows to adjust levels
- ... use the page up/down to adjust speaker VOLUME
- F3 - adjusts "Beta" ... use the up/down arrows to adjust values
- F4 - adjusts "Decay" ... use the up/down arrows to adjust values
- F5 - Toggle the sound processor In/Out
- F9 - Toggle between Denoise and Autonotch functions
-
- ALT-X or ESC exits the program.
-
-
- Running the software:
- ---------------------
-
- Copy the files to an appropiate subdirectory, then type "run" and the
- rest is automatic. Please ensure that you have removed the sound card's
- device driver from your config.sys/autoexec.bat as it may interfere with
- this program.
-
- Depending on the type of sound card you have, you may have to select a
- different signal "source" - valid values are from 0 - 4. I use an Orchid
- sound card and use the mike input plugged into my rig's headphone jack.
- Adjust the audio level until you see the yellow bars on the input
- level bargraph - when its in the red, the card is overloaded.
-
- Once the software is running, you may want to experiment with the
- "Beta" and "Decay" values, however, the example should be close
- to optimal.
-
- This is a demo version of a more extensive package. Please contact the
- author for further low cost software for these DSP sound cards. This include
- sound processing for HF and satellite work, high performance DSP modems
- for HF digital as well as AMTOR and Pactor software for the use on a
- PC to compliment these DSP modems.
-
-
- Hope you enjoy the software - let me know how it works for you!
